Companion Data Services achieves CMMI Service Maturity Level 3
February 01, 2018
Companion Data Services, LLC (CDS) obtained Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Services Maturity Level 3 in February 2018. A Level 3 assessment means that CDS demonstrates organization-wide standards that provide guidance across projects, programs and portfolios.
“During this two year journey, CDS implemented new quality practices and strengthened our existing service program practices,” said Lola Jordan, president of CDS. “Adopting standard practices and procedures enables knowledge sharing across all units and teams, allowing CDS to leverage the best resources for the work on hand.”
The Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University and industry and government representatives developed the CMMI models. They provide guidance for developing or improving processes and may also be used as a framework for appraising the process maturity of the organization.
There are five levels of CMMI Maturity that build upon each other:
- Level 1 – Initial
Unpredictable and reactive
- Level 2 – Managed
Managed on the project level
- Level 3 – Defined
Proactive, rather than reactive
- Level 4 – Quantitatively
Measured and controlled
- Level 5 – Optimized
Stable and flexible
To receive a Maturity Level 3 assessment, CDS had to demonstrate proficiency in areas such as Decision Analysis and Resolution, Integrated Project Management, Organizational Process Definition, Organizational Process Focus, Organizational Training and Risk Management.
