SC-based Companion Data Services Awarded CMS VDC Task Order

April 08, 2015

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Companion Data Services (CDS) has been selected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to continue to service the National Level Repository (NLR) hosting task order under the Virtual Data Center contract.

“We’ve been providing an effective and highly reliable environment for the NLR since its start in 2010,” CDS President Lola Jordan said. “Our team has developed improvements in infrastructure and monitoring; and created efficiencies in releases and testing. We’re excited to continue this partnership with CMS.”

The NLR system tracks incentive payments to health care providers that adopt electronic health records and modernize their computer systems by archiving, receiving and processing daily data feeds from multiple sources.

CDS operates a large and secure health care data center providing health care information technology services, such as claims processing, programming and outsourcing to CMS and other government and private entities. Last year, the CDS data center processed nearly 900 million claims.
